The comfort is excellent, the fit is true to size, and the cushioning feels much more premium than you’d expect from a retro model. At $170, it’s definitely on the expensive side, but if you want a retro sneaker that actually feels modern on foot, this is one of the best options available.

The adidas Adistar Control 5 has quietly become one of my favorite retro runner options. The mesh and suede upper gives off perfect vintage runner vibes, while the comfort is solid enough for all-day wear.

One of the best parts about this shoe is the value. Retail pricing is already reasonable, but sales frequently drop these under retail, making them one of the better affordable sneaker options for Summer 2026.

The ASICS Gel NYC 2 is one of the biggest upgrades ASICS has made to a lifestyle sneaker in years. The addition of FF Blast Plus cushioning makes this shoe noticeably softer and more comfortable than most sneakers in this category.

Honestly, this model is starting to replace some New Balance 990 models in my rotation because it delivers premium comfort at a lower price point.

The Nike ACG Zegama has become one of my favorite summer trail sneakers because of how breathable and lightweight it feels. Usually, I gravitate toward Gore-Tex trail shoes living in Oregon, but during summer months, a more ventilated trail option makes way more sense.

The FuelCell Rebel v5 continues to be one of the best lightweight daily trainers available. It’s breathable, stylish, lightweight, and incredibly comfortable for the price.

The New Balance 1080v15 deserves way more credit than it gets. Every time I wear this shoe, I’m reminded how comfortable and smooth the ride feels.

The adidas Evo SL is still one of the best lightweight trainers adidas currently offers. Full-length Lightstrike Pro cushioning gives this shoe an incredibly energetic ride while still keeping the package breathable enough for summer.

Even with rumors of the Evo SL 2 already surfacing, the original remains one of my favorite daily sneakers.

Brooks Glycerin 23

The Brooks Glycerin 23 is one of the most comfortable daily trainers Brooks has released in a long time. The updated DNA Tuned cushioning gives the shoe a softer and more premium underfoot feel compared to previous versions, while the plush padding around the collar makes it incredibly comfortable for all-day wear.

It is a little bit heavier than some of the other daily trainers on this list, but once you put them on feet, it’s easy to understand why so many people love the Glycerin line. The cushioning is smooth, stable, and ideal for daily walking, casual wear, or easy miles.
