2013 Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Bred”

It’s that time of the year again! Nike/Jordan Brand are dishing out the best releases we have seen to date. With today’s hectic Air Jordan 11 “Gamma Blue” release, sneakerheads and Michael Jordan fans alike will definitely be looking forward to this release only a week away. However, rumors claim that these are being released in limited quantities, so securing a pair will definitely be a challenge.

When I first heard news that this shoe was expected to drop, I made it my mission to finally get a pair of the ever so coveted Air Jordan 1. Thus, you can definitely expect me to try my best in snagging a pair either online or in stores on release day.

Let’s go back oh 28 years. Michael Jordan is a rookie in the NBA but his potential is promising. He initially hopes to get a sneaker deal with Adidas but he gets rejected. Soon later, Nike made one of the biggest decisions it had ever made at the time, causing it to not only revolutionize the company but the basketball/sneaker world alike. Nike released the very first Air Jordan shoe in 1985 and it surely convinced everyone soon enough that they could “be like Mike”. Not only was it a revolutionary shoe for basketball usage but it served as a status symbol.

Once Michael decided to lace them up on court, in the black and red colorway, the NBA banned his shoes. Why you might ask? Well the argument was that the shoes were too flashy and did not contain enough white on them. However, Mike still wore them but he along with Nike were fined $5000 per game.

Nike soon launched its popular ad campaign mentioning how the NBA may have stopped Michael Jordan from wearing the shoe but it can’t stop the consumer.

Twenty-Eight years later, with numerous retros. new colorways, and mash-ups, the Air Jordan 1 has still passed the test of time. It remains as one of the most classic silhouettes of all time and it is a favorite of many sneakerheads including myself.

This new release really pleases me, it’s great that Nike is gracing us with such a classic sneaker in original form, just in time for the holidays!

Even more so, after today’s Air Jordan 11 release, Nike’s release calendar got updated and we managed to see a few official images of the shoe.

Expect to see the sneaker release at several major Nike/Jordan Brand accounts nationwide and possibly worldwide this Saturday December 28th.

In the United States, the retail price is set at $140, reasonable in my opinion.

Take a look at the pictures below and let us know if these are a cop or drop for you, and if you are as eager and anxious to get these as I am!

Thanks for reading!
