Air Jordan 5 “Oreo” Detailed Images+Release Information
The Air Jordan 5s just keep on coming this year don’t they? However, the long line of several Air Jordan 5 releases is coming to an end with this newest release which might be if not will be the last Air Jordan 5 for a long time. You see, 2013 marks the 23rd Anniversary of the Air Jordan 5. Thus, throughout 2013 Nike/Jordan Brand has brought us a slew of Air Jordan 5s that has made some people tired of the shoe while making a lot others including myself very happy.
The Air Jordan 5 is a very classic Air Jordan. Originally released in 1990, the Air Jordan 5 was designed by Tinker Hatfield and it was the model worn by Michael Jordan the year before he won his first NBA Championship, in the Air Jordan 6. Nonetheless, the Air Jordan 5 has been a coveted model for many of us “Sneakerheads”.
Since almost all of the original colorways plus some new colorways of the Air Jordan 5 have released in this year, do not expect to see the Air Jordan 5 again any time soon. Take that statement into consideration. Although many are tired of seeing the 5s come out, what will happen in the future? I can guarantee you that many of the 5s that were bought up this year will be worn to the point where they may end up being thrown away. No one should throw away their shoes, but regardless of that, many who decided to pass on the Air Jordan 5s this year might feel the urge to want them in the coming years. Many might not have a lot of love for the shoe when comparing it to something that hasn’t released in a while like the “Columbia” Air Jordan 11s, but this points towards the fact that these sneakers may not have the proper affection they deserve now, but most likely will in the future.
Enough of my ranting, Black Friday is known for a day where people will go to great lengths to snag deals on whatever the item may be. Also, Black Friday is a day where Nike/Jordan Brand release highly anticipated sneakers as well. On Black Friday last year, Nike/Jordan Brand released the “Bred” Air Jordan 4s and the “Black Cement” Air Jordan 3s in 2011 I believe.
Although some say this year’s release doesn’t stack up against past Black Friday releases, these have been growing on me so much that I think I might just have to try and get them. This Air Jordan 5 dubbed the “Oreo” features what looks to be a good quality suede/nubuck upper, primarily white midsole with black along with white speckling seen on the shark teeth that Tinker designed after being inspired by a World War 2 fighter jet. Finally, the shoe is finished off with a clear and black rubber sole and that puffy, soft tongue in black accented with a dark grey Jumpman.
This shoe is looking very clean in my eyes and is sure to be a crowd favorite. Also, the shoe looks perfect for the winter, especially with that all white sock liner.
Look for these hot sneakers to release this Black Friday November 29th for a retail price of $170.
