DOERNBECHER FREESTYLE X EVENT RECAP PORTLAND OR 9.28.13
Here is a video of the Doernbecher Nike X Freestyle Recap (Celebrating 10 years)
This is a recap of the Doernbecher Freestyle X Event in Portland Oregon on Saturday September 28th, 2013. It was an honor to have attended the event in person! I got to hang out with Nike designers (Jake, Matt, Ben), the child designers, friends (Andrew, Paul, Jake) and other bloggers (Gerard from Theshoegame.com). A very eventful evening!
A very special moment for me, i got to meet Issac Arzate’s family! The father acually approached me since I was wearing the DB5s, the ones their son designed. It was very cool talking to the family, talked to them for about 15 minutes discussing the shoes and their son. RIP Isaac!
The total amount raised wasn’t announced yet, but it was big. I would say at least $300k, not including the $1.2 million dollars given from Nike to Doernbecher for last years sales from Doernbecher Freestyle 9.
The live action was insane, each shoe raised an enormous amount of money!
The Air Jordan X Doernbecher designed by Daniel Pena raised $17,500 at live auction:
The 2013 Foamposite One Doernbecher Elijah Diggens sold for $15,000 at live action:
Women’s RosheRun designed by Kate Smith sold for $15,500 at live auction
Women’s Dunk Sky High Doernbecher designed by Kira Smith sold for $12,000 at live auction
Nike Zoom Stephan Janoski Doernbecher designed by Ross Hathaway sold for $25,000 + a bonus donation (since a single item sold for 25k) of $25,000 totaling $50,000!
Woman’s Free 5.0 Doernbecher designed by Bella Stone sold for $20,000, which was magical number considering she has had 20 surgeries as mentioned in her shoes.
Men’s Nike Free Run 5.0 Doernbecher designed by Jake Dering sold for $17,500 ( I believe)
Lastly, the very limited Doernbecher X Dunk (limited to 2 in the world they said) sold for $26,000 for one pair in live auction!
