Opening Day has just passed and Concepts and New Balance are back at it again with another collaboration. Concepts pays tribute to arguably the greatest rivalry in the history of the sport with the upcoming “City Rivalry” Pack.
The leadoff hitter is the New Balance 998, inspired by none other than the Boston Red Sox. The front of the shoe sports a beautiful deep red suede, with the back sporting a blend of grey and green to match the historic Fenway Park.
To finish off the shoe, the New Balance logo pops with the same greyish-green color. This particular pair will release in-store on April 11th for $220 at Concepts Cambridge and ’47 Brand’s Yawkey Way Location.
Next up to bat is the New Balance 997, inspired by the New York Yankees. This pair sports a teal – almost tiffany-like – green across the majority of the upper, with hits of pebbled grey and reflective sports across the shoe. Just like the 998 iteration, the shoe sits on a white midsole which pops beautifully.
The pebbled grey represents the cobblestone surrounding the equally esteemed Yankee Stadium. These shoes will release in-store this weekend on April 9th at Concepts New York, with a $20 price hike of $240. It is important to note that the reason for the price of the pack is the fact that both of these models have been “Made in the USA”.
As for those unable to attend the in-store releases, there will be an online release as well. Details are still fuzzy, however, it seems as if the shoes are planning to release on April 16th on cncptsintl.com. If anything changes, the Collective Kicks crew will keep you updated.
UPDATE (4/8): The ‘Yankees’ 997 will release in-store at Concepts’ New York location ONLY at 10am, and online at www.cncptsintl.com at 12pm EST tomorrow (4/9).
