Collective Collabs-July

I think it’s safe to say that July certainly provided sneakerheads with a wide range of options, colors, and styles when it came to world of sneaker collaborations.  The month started off with Nike, teaming up with Familia and Atlas to deliver their own versions of the SB Dunk high and low.  The month then transitioned into a stream of Reebok releases and previews, and ended with an under the radar Fila collab.  In order to simply keep up with the amount of releases our own twitter handle briefly tweeted out the “Collab of the Day.”  While that segment in particular has been quiet, that does not mean the overall collaboration world has.  What it comes down too, is that the shelves of sneaker retailers are flooded with collabs, by simply jumping on almost any website, one can come across a collab not talked about very quite easily.  While we as s=consumers might be missing out quality product, it is not that bad.  I see it as beneficial, noting that prices seem to drop after only a few weeks and in some cases days on collabs that do not have instant or near instant sellouts.  There comes a point where there are just too many to keep track off.  Unfortunately we reached that point years ago.

Top 3:

1) Familia x Nike “Blue Ox”

I was able to cop this pair from the good people over at Premier Skate and the detail and finishing on these shoes is simply terrific.  The plaid liner compliments the roaring wave pattern found on the insoles and the suede is top notch.  The shoes from what I gathered, sold out on most sites, I’m just glad to that I found a pair in my size as a trip to Hurley saw me leave with nothing.  (Image via Sole Collector)

2) Overkill x Asics “Dessert Rose”

The deep burgundy color that drowns the upper really does it for me.  Pairing that with flower detailing on the heel , this shoe really pops.  In terms of the model, the Gel Sight continues to impress in both simple and complicated colorways. Asics has a real winner on their hands and I would expect more collabs to  feature to the Gel Sight instead of some of the more common Gel Lyte IIIs.  (Image via Sneaker News)

3) Kendrick Lamar x Reebok

Corresponding with Overkill and Asics collab, these shoes also released on July 18th, making it the best weekend for releases in July.  The back story behind these shoes is pretty clear. Red versus Blue is ditched for a Red and Blue theme and the shoes are tied tighter nicely with beige/white/tan upper.  With “Blue” being featured on the left shoe, and “Red” on the right, here’s hoping that no one will be wearing two left or two right shoes.  (Image via GQ)
