Anime + Sneakers= Greatness! After the success of the “Slam Dunk” Jordans, it was only a matter of time before another brand jumped on the anime bandwagon, and I think the most obvious choice has stepped up to the plate. Vans, one of the hottest brands this year, has combined forces with world famous “Superflat” artist Takashi Murakami to make six new pairs of the classic skate shoe- the Vans Slip-On. In addition to the shoes, Vans will also release three Toddler Slip-Ons, three limited edition tees, and three skate decks, all featuring Murakami’s famous anime-style artwork. Seeing as how Murakami is famous for always wearing Vans Slip-Ons when he paints, it makes perfect sense for this collaboration to occur, and is something that all anime and skate fans will be very happy to get their hands on!
While there has not been a price set for the sneakers as of yet, expect these to be less than $100 per pair, and probably more in the price range of $65-$80. The tees should also be around $25-$30 per shirt, and the decks will cost around $50 a piece. With a firm release date of June 27th, start saving your money so you can pick up the whole set at any Vans Vault stockists!
