After a brief hiatus the “Forgotten Friday” throwback series is back with new material , and I would like to kick the series back off with one of my favorite Ronnie Fieg designed sneakers of all time, which is the Aisics Gel Lyte III “Salmon Toe”. This shoe was released on September 30th at 11am at the very first Kith store in Brooklyn for the stores grand opening. Only 40 shoes were marked in special wooden boxes made by Good Wood, and to my knowledge the wooden boxes were only made available in store on the 3oth as many people camped for the highly anticipated first shoe release from Ronnie Fieg. The shoes feature a salmon colored toe box and mud guard, and also transition to a primarily navy navy nubuck upper. The Aisics logo is also dressed with premium white leather outlined by the salmon colored nubuck, and white is also seen primarily on the midsole. Prior to this shoe’s release Ronnie Fieg was already gaining much underground buzz in the sneaker community for his involvement in many other sneakers collabs, and this shoe was a culmination of his dream to open his own store in NYC. Growing up in NYC shoes were always important, however it was this shoe and many others like it between the period of late 2011 to early 2012 that have made me fall in love with the sneaker culture and which is why this shoe re-starts our throwback series.
