#FORGOTTENFRIDAYS Nike SB Dunk High “Skunk”

For this Friday I wanted to point out a shoe with a very funny and creative concept from a little over four years ago- the Nike SB Dunk High “Skunk”. Released on 4/20 of 2010. This sneaker is not only popular amongst sneakerheads, but also to pot-blazers with the details down from the release date to stash pockets behind the tongue and the dazed cartoon skunk on the insole. The varying suede textures are also reminiscent of grinded marijuana, which is subtly rounded out by the purple swoosh and outsole as we all know about the slang terms, “purple” or “purple smoke”. The Skunk’s remain one of the most notorious themed SB’s and themed sneakers in general as it challenged mainstream culture with both its illegal undertones, but also vibrant green hues and material textures. Custom’s have already been done for a low top version of the sneaker which would be nice as various popular low-top SB’s have been remade in high-top form. Time has really flown by for these kicks as they are approaching the 5 year mark in the near future and in my opinion remain one of the best Nike SB sneakers for the ease in their execution of the intended

carefree concept.
